Hi!
I am Kaylee Florene Davis. I’m a creative and a problem solver.
I love sandwiches and texture and pattern and the color yellow. I do not love overhead lights. Helping people find the most splendid solutions and checking off the day’s to-do list give me a good night’s sleep.
I grew up in Kansas following my mom around as she visited the homes of her interior design clients. Afterward, in my own room, I would try to recreate the magic I saw her fabricate for others with just the right wallpaper, sofa, or set of drapes. She instilled in me a creative license that I still carry: every scene I see is an opportunity to play, to learn, to interpret.
I moved to Seattle, WA in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts, an emphasis in ceramics, and an incessant want to create things with my hands. I am constantly altering recipes, jewelry, thrifted finds, and my apartment. I am learning the beauty of the process, that it is often more in the practice of creating than in the creation itself.
Since I began working with clients in 2015, I’ve steadily grown disillusioned with the common practice of replacing every item or piece of a home with each move or whim. (I even encouraged clients to do so!) And while I appreciate that mass manufacturing has democratized interior design to an extent—everyone should have access to creating a space that they are proud of—I have chosen not to ignore the impacts of these societal habits. I have shifted my focus, I have begun to slow my practice.
I follow the Slow Design Movement which seeks to integrate individuals, society, and the environment for the health of the whole. What that means for my work is being innovative with what you have and being intentional with what you buy. Often it’s less about what you use and more about how you use it; the simplest shift can make the most impact.
I find that spaces curated from a variety of handmade, secondhand, and thoughtfully purchased new items have a multi-dimensional, welcoming feel. These layers invite us to interact with the space and actually live in it, rather than to simply view it as though it’s a stale showhouse. I want to see the hand! I want to see the story of the humans that inhabit the space, reflected in the most handsome way.
I relish working with people, collaborating to help them realize the potential of their space. I listen to the surroundings and play with the possibilities—I go for the unexpected. Together, we create a lived-in, livable, delightful home.

A few questions you may have-
-
Nope! Every client has different wants and needs and budget. While it is my first choice, it doesn’t always make sense to buy something secondhand. Most projects include items from a variety of sources- thrift stores, local boutiques, and even (gasp!) big box stores. It’s all about the balance.
-
I don’t! I love to work on all types of projects. While some clients ask for a full home revamp, others just need help figuring out the layout for a single room, or choosing a paint color.
-
I can help guide you in finding a cohesive style direction for your space such as choosing a color palette, lighting and finishes. At this time I do not design structural renovations or new builds.
-
I primarily work in the greater Seattle area but have worked with clients all across the country, including New York, San Francisco, Denver, and Kailua-Kona. I will always consider traveling for a project if it’s a good fit.
-
I prefer to see a space in person but when that isn’t possible I can still offer suggestions on many aspects of the design such as general style direction, layout, and product recommendations.
-
For all services I work on an hourly basis at $115/hr, plus tax.
I understand that this is a barrier for some. If so, please get in touch- I reserve a limited number of hours each quarter for sliding scale work. This is the best practice I have found to offer my services in an equitable way.
